Intellectual Property Database Research Training Day

Webinar Description

This training day is dedicated to providing participants with an in-depth understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) research. The aim is to highlight the significance of IP research in the life of knowledge-intensive companies and to enable participants to conduct effective IP research independently. The program focuses on patent research, including thematic research, pre-filing research, and research to support business decisions, complemented by insights into trademark and copyright research.

The 8-hour training programme is divided into two 4-hour sessions. The morning session presents the role of IP research in the innovation process and the commercialisation of inventions, and provides the participants with the basic skills necessary to conduct such research. The afternoon session involves practical exercises through which participants face common challenges encountered uring IP research and start developing their preferred research strategies.

About the trainer

Istvan Molnar – Patent Attorney

Meet István Molnár, a multi-talented professional with a Ph.D. and extensive experience in intellectual property, innovation, and the pharmaceutical industry. He is currently the head of business development and client relation at SBGK Patent and Law attorneys. István is also a European and Hungarian Patent Attorney, a Research Chemist, a Lawyer, and a Horticultural Engineer.
His expertise includes knowledge transfer, industrial property rights, and licensing agreements, among others. He has specialized knowledge in the agricultural, agro-industrial, organic chemistry, building, food, and chemical technology industries. István also has an exceptional background in literature copyright, remuneration agreements, and trademarks.
István has served in various roles throughout his career, including Senior Patent Attorney at EGIS Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Director of the South Great Plain Regional Innovation Agency, and International Consultant for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Hungarian Industrial Property and Copyright Association, the Industrial Property Rights Expert Board, and the European Patent Institute. István is also the President of the Hungarian Chapter of the Licensing Executives’ Society. István has a Ph.D. in Industrial Management and a doctorate in law from the University of Szeged. He also has a horticultural engineering degree from Neumann János University and a research chemistry degree from József Attila University. In addition, he has completed an Advanced Industrial Property Rights Course at the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office.
